Where to begin? Our community actually started within the game, World of Warcraft in 2004. A select group of players from Michigan & the Midwest formed a clan by the name of "Structure Divine" on the Archimonde server. As many remember, our yellow and grey tree tabbards were the talk of the town.
We used Ventrilo as our base of operations to build stronger relationships and expand our small community. Eventually in an attempt to further our growth as a guild, we re-established ourselves as the guild, "Obsidian Fist".
It was during this time that a young prodigy of a child, known only as FriskyWhisky, petitioned the idea of naming ourselves "Candybar Heaven". The idea was quickly shot down. Possibly because the name brings to mind images of Candybar Clouds and Jelly Bean Rain, or more simply that a 9 year old's voice trying to sell this name to a bunch of battle hardened WoW playing junkies was never meant to be. Both FriskyWhisky and his clan name faded away as time went by. Thanks to many long nights of gaming and reminiscing about the past, the story of the kid and his Candybar Heaven lived on.
Our attempt at creating a much larger WoW community was somewhat short lived, however the heart of what was left of the remains survived, nameless...
We all went our different ways, but kept in contact through gaming.
Upon the announcement that BF2142 would be released in 2006, we eagerly started to devise our comeback. As most of us were avid BF2 players, it seemed only logical that we would once again take our chances at becoming a much larger community. The task of coming up with a clan name that perfectly described what we were looking to create was daunting, but the teachings of the young FriskyWhisky came to fruition, and "Candybar Heaven" became more than a funny story to tell at night. It became a name to place claim upon, and to take pride in.
The beauty of the name "Candybar Heaven" is that as serious as we may take ourselves, and as much time and effort as we put into the games we play, we must always take a step back and remember that we are doing this for fun and to share with others the joy we have playing these games. The first moment we take ourselves or the games too seriously, is when the fun stops and the games lose their luster. CBH serves as a reminder that we are here to have fun and continue on as a group.
It is our goal to re-live the olden days of gaming and having a group of players and place to call home once again, no matter where we are, or what game we play.
