Strength also depends on initial and final specific gravity (solute content, basically fermentable sugar). I keep my fermenting beer in a PET container covered by a hooded sweatshirt to keep light out. I did 3 weeks worth of research every day before even starting. Homebrewtalk.com is a great resource. My course work in school also helps since I'm a biology major. I already have a basis for understanding of what's going on inside that fermenter on a molecular level. Ok you clearly know more about brewing than me. I didnt know if you were an alcoholic just trying to save some money or a serious brewer, so I thougth i would chime in. Sam Adams commericals are stupid. They try to make it all sophisticated, the Coors light and Bud Light commercials crack me up.

It's my go to beer, I actually enjoy the taste and the clean finish. |

Anyway... fwiw, I think Bud is disgusting on taste alone, but I guess maybe it's an acquired taste. Beer isn't supposed to be filtered (let alone filtered several times). So, while I can appreciate that you like Bud, don't make pretend that it's actually beer. Besides, I wouldn't consider non-bud "fancy". Other beers are just that: beers. Just my two cents... |

I actually agree (with the "go to" beer perspective). Not much flavor for when I'd prefer not to be overwhelmed by hoppy bitterness or a complex mesh of interwoven flavors. Can't beat the price of mass production and distribution either. 99% of the time I'm alright with being beaten over the head with a bucket of hops.

Mark, check this out:
http://lifehacker.com/5465808/brewta...mebrew-recipes Also, I had the best beer I've had in a long time the other night. It's called Supper Club by Capital Brewery. http://www.capital-brewery.com/ourbeers/index.html The malt was so good. Only problem is that you can only get it in a select group of restaurants or their brewery. No bottles D: Make me some of that! ___ * Edit: I emailed them and it turns out they are going to bottle in April. I'll have to mail you some Mark. Last edited by bombay; 02-14-2010 at 02:32 AM. |

I'll be brewing a specialty Chai spiced ale this weekend. The following weekend I'm going to be brewing an Irish Car Bomb Stout, recipe of my own design.
