My ring is telling me my xbox is fucked after it froze 3 times today. There goes my xbox for a month and a half.

I called up MS, cut through their bullshit script by establishing my intelligence (tell them that you've been through this before and that you know everything you need to do, and have done it) and got them to send me a box.

The box arrived in a day or two, I forget which.

I packed my xbox up in 5 minutes, and handed it back to the UPS guy. MS receieved my xbox 2 or 3 days later, and shipped me back a new one mid-week the following week. I had my new xbox the following Monday.

So, I lost...MAX 2 weeks.

Forgot to add-- My friend got the replacement plan through best buy... I'm not sure if you have one close by but it might be worth it to you to do that, because he's replaced his xbox 7 (yes, 7) times already and best buy eats it every time. He gets to keep his hard drive, too.

I went with him once to get it replaced and they only had xboxes with bundles in them, and they were lower priced than he originally bought his for... so he got 2 new free games and a $50 credit.

I think the plan is good for like 2 or 3 years. Beats having to send it back to MS if you really value your xbox.

Your plan is great when you're unemployed and home all the time. I've got school all day and can't sit around waiting for the UPS guy. I also live out in BUTT FUCK EGYPT and it takes approximately 4-5 days shipping here and 4-5 days shipping back. That right there is 9-11 days. Then there's repair, and then another 4-5 days shipping back to me again. Last time I did this it took about 4 weeks, so the month-and-a-half is a bit of a frustrated exaggeration on my part.

I think the nearest Best Buy is in Appleton, WI. Eric can confirm that for me. However, I could just do what Eric said. That's how I got my 120gb hard drive. Now there's a story.

Went home for Christmas vacation, forgot my power supply at home 500 miles away. Bought an Xbox elite at Meijer, which was noticeably opened and resealed with packaging tape, and returned it a day later because the 2 games were missing. The 2 games were actually missing before I had acquired said Xbox, but the hard drive was not. I took the 120gb HDD out and put everything back and returned it saying that this is how I found it. I continued on explaining that in my experience working at the service desk in Target, when any electronic item (especially a gaming console) was returned, IT MUST BE SENT BACK TO THE MANUFACTURER WITHOUT EXCEPTION; not taped shut and placed back on the shelves, which it was.

I got a free 120gb HDD out of it. Managerial incompetence is certainly to thank for it.

Uh, I did it while I was still working last year, and um, I do have a job. Although that would require you to have a work address to send it to, but details, details.
