    BFBC2 Demo Impressions

i played bfbc2 demo with brendan last night.

    PRO:
+Squads/team play truly works in the battlefield series, and they encourage it with their setup... I like this level of diversity/teamwork
+weapon sounds and class kit diversity seems to have been brought to a new level of detail/upgrading
+large maps with destructible environments is pretty sweet
+different game types allow for various gameplay styles/teamwork options

    CONS:
-after having played my fair share of ME2 and MW2 recently, this game looks like garbage imo
-choppy frame rate, pixelated graphics (probably to allow for building destruction), and iffy controls make combat chunky/not fun
-the sensitivity of the xbox control/when paired with the choppy game make it very difficult to line up shots
-vehicle controls seem counter intuitive (granted you can change the controls, but even the adjusted controls feel chunky)
-making a squad/joining a game (might be too early to judge) but if it is like 1943 EA needs to get this down better, because games can go the whole round, and never even out after people leave

Once again we are still in the demo, but I do not think there has EVER been a game where if I didnt like he demo/or had reserves about the demo, that the real game differed that much. Granted this did not stop me from buying: Vanguard, Warhammer, Aion, and Hellgate (worst of the worst).

I cannot see BFBC2 taking that much away from modern Warfare unless it smooths out its chunkiness.

I can see your issue with the framerate or whatever (not being locked at 60), but I think the framerate is more than adequate (it never gets choppy for me, at 1080p), especially considering how much is going on at the same time.

I agree somewhat on the vehicle controls and I don't understand why they changed them from the BC1 controls which were perfect IMO.

Completely agree about games "dying" after a certain point. I think this is only a problem very late at night (2-7am) so not really a huge issue. Most of the time the server stays full.

Also agree on Squads/inviting. I think some error messages being added would suffice (i.e. can't invite when game is full, can't join a person's game if it's full, etc)

    Finally, some not-so-obvious tips:

    • Press BACK (<) button to spot enemies.
    • Buildings containing an objective can be completely leveled (destroying the objective) if you are having trouble getting in and destroying it (rush game mode).
    • Tracer darts allow the RPG to seek air targets (after a 2-3 second lock-on period). Does not apply to wire-guided missile emplacements.
    • UAV has machine gun alt-fire, not just a missile.
    • While sniping, holding left trigger keeps you zoomed, even after you have taken a shot. If you continue to hold left trigger and try to "fire" again (right trigger), it will chamber in the next bullet, and go back into scope automatically... so you don't lose where you were aiming at (so you can adjust for drop). This is hard to explain without actually doing it yourself, so if it doesn't make sense I apologize.
Anyway, overall I think this game will be tons of fun... and I think you all should get it.

i agree with karanji, it feels sluggish and grainy
though that seems its style more than shityness
vehicle controls are much better after you change them
i found it annoying that you can spawn on any squad member, the enemy hides one guy behind base and you have to kill them all to get rid of them, usually endding up with me finding him and just before i can get a clean shot someone else spawns and i have to fight two/three/four on one
with teamwork all seems fair though i suppose
