Dawn of War 2 Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 2... looks, in a word, AWESOME. I played the beta... it plays a lot like CoH... but this time I'm actually interested. It's hard... but it's a lot of fun. Teamwork is absolutely essential... you usually can't defend against even two enemies without another teammates help.. I encourage you all to look into it... it should be a lot of fun.
Re: Dawn of War 2 This looks good and I'll get it because it actually has RPG elements to it. I get bored with RTS games, even in COH I was over it after a while no matter how hard i tried. This game eliminates base and micro managment which makes it worth trying for me. But I have way too much to play right now, so I might not get into it for a while yet. I'm trying to beat like 10 different console games right now.
Re: Dawn of War 2 meh i bought it on steam.. i'll play it tomorrow when it comes out if anyone wants to join. it looks like the first strategy game I can see myself playing. got a good review too on ign. 9.0 my steam is jdn67
Re: Dawn of War 2 some of you niggers better get this it looks cool.. i bought it off steam and having a hell of a time downloading it though, it's not letting me download it just says "download starting" for the last 4 hours.
Re: Dawn of War 2 Yeah I think I am going to buy it. I'm a big THQ fan.... still though, its hard to beat all those free games for the 360.
Re: Dawn of War 2 I got it and it's awesome so far, it's highly stylized and really polished up, the menus and look of the game is really nice. It's basically COH with WAR characters, very cool. Like I said it's more about squad management than anything now, as you don't build bases and new characters etc. I like it like that though because you level up your squads and get to equip them with new gear and weapons as you progress and find it. Very innovative game. getting windows live for multiplayer to work was a real bitch though, if you have a problem enable these ports on your router that are shown in the links. Mine wouldn't work without every single port opened up, and there's like 8 or 9. http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-us/Support/Pages/internetConnectionIssues.aspx http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908874
Re: Dawn of War 2 i suppose i will get it tonight. i think my steam id includes my cbh tag, if not its karanji or karanji82
Re: Dawn of War 2 ah cool... I just finished played it for about 4 hours, so far I have to say it's awesome. One of the only strategy games I ENJOY, and that's saying a lot for me at least. The thing I like about this game is that you get to pick 4 squads per mission, but think of them as classes. Commander character acts *sort of* like a medic, and can heal characters as an ability (you can swap their abilities as you equip them, so technically anyone can do anything I suppose). The "scout" who is basically a ghost from starcraft, who I've set up to do artillery strikes, and also cloak. The heavy gunner which is awesome, lays down huge chaingun fire to supress enemies. The standard infantry, with grandes, rifles etc... And finally my favorite so far, the jetpack guys... They launch up in the air and land down where you want, causing a huge shockwave knocking everyone down and killing almost everything when they land, and they are mostly melee fighters. You can find items that give you the abilities to set up sentry guns, and all sorts of things I haven't discovered yet. There is one more but I don't know what it is yet... I like it because you can equip items, find items, sort of like WoW (greens, blue items), and equip whatever you want on any character. If you want your main character to have a bigass gun he can, or he can use a sword and pistol, you can customize everyones abilities, and build them the way you want to, and there is 4 trees for each class. The other nice thing is each class is basically one character with 2-3 support guys with him, so you get to know these characters as well. I don't really know what else to say it's a really cool game so far. I like the changes they made to this stale RTS formula.
Re: Dawn of War 2 is this for PC or Xbox??? I saw bombay and fusion playing on xbox???? I was hoping it was for PC????
Re: Dawn of War 2 it is for PC, but you are basically required to use Windows Live For Games on this, but you just log into your gamer card you already have on your xbox 360, you dont need to register or anything. That's how I was talking to you yesterday, I was playing DOW2 but had xbox live on my pc while playing.
Re: Dawn of War 2 How far are you guys anyway? i'm on day 18 and playing on the hard difficulty, failed a few missions though but never were too hard I couldn't beat them the second time... it's hard though, honestly. I find myself running back to redeploy my guys a lot.
Re: Dawn of War 2 you responded to my question about your blackberry thing.. i seen you, but i got off earlier than them.
Re: Dawn of War 2 Anyway I'd like to co-op campaign but not sure how it works, and I've got to beat star ocean 2 before SO4 comes out on monday so I might not be on that much.
Re: Dawn of War 2 ill send you my bb pin thourgh xbox live. why are you sending pin messages though? can't you just text or use bb messenger. or is there no cost to pinning? PC
Re: Dawn of War 2 dude i am talking about BB messanger! you need eachothers pins before you can invite eachother to it. I need your pin # to send you a friend request on it. I just want to message on BB messanger
Re: Dawn of War 2 OK, I'm on Day 28; this number is irrelevant, though.. as days can progress if you quit a mission... it is simply a day tally based on how many deploys (missions) you've done. Some days give you 2 deploys... most give you one. My force commander is level 16, however. I can't honestly remember the last time I had this much fun in an RTS... I don't know if there's only a space marines campaign, but it's freaking tons of fun so far. As Ikari said, the RPG element is really awesome. I feel like I'm playing a mix between Dawn of War and, say, Diablo or WoW. It's that polished, too. The graphics are amazing, the effects are badass... it's an all around awesome experience... and it never gets boring. I'm playing on normal for the campaign as I'm not interested in making myself sweat... it's plenty hard enough as is with my playstyle. I tend to go full force into battles (come on, they're space marines!) and as such lose a guy or two in really big conflicts. I gotta say though, being able to swap out armor, and completely change the way a squad plays whether they have the terminator armor (oh, my, god!!) or not is a really nice touch. You can always check the "intel" section right before a mission and change out gear if you need to so that you can be more efficient/effective. I haven't played much multiplayer, but it's a completely different ballgame as far as game mechanics go. It's much more similar to CoH (whereas the campaign is not so much) in that you just build units and capture points. There isn't a ton of customization in MP other than the hero you choose for your race before the match starts. You can buy equipment for him later on, but the plus side of this is that you get to choose what to outfit him/her with. You can also purchase the upgrades no matter where you are on the map. One thing I am really enjoying in DoW 2, after being a big DoW 1 fan, is the lack of base building. Even in contrast to CoH, there is basically none. I think this is a good move on their part because the ENTIRE game is based on tactics. You don't have to worry about building structures in a certain order... just units. The only buildings you have to worry about are your main base upgrades (3 levels, at least for eldar... haven't played anything else in MP) and building power generators at a power node. There is literally no other building in multiplayer that I am aware of. I read of eldar being able to transport between warp gates but I don't even know if you can build one in MP... although I'll admit I've only played MP in the "beta". All in all, it is shaping up to be an amazing game.. and the reviews so far have been pretty generous: http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/warhammer40000dawnofwar2 ...I just read a few of the "user" reviews and it seems the only people that don't like it are those who have a shitty computer or because it's not what they *stomps feet* wanted DoW2 to be (get over it, IMO). As far as the Windows live stuff goes... at first I was pissed that they integrated it, because I was running the windows 7 beta at the time... which... don't bother running if you want to play any game with Windows Live... (fallout 3 is another one) because they don't have an installer that works... and it's REQUIRED for the game. But, after re-installing vista x64, it's fine and dandy and I enjoy being able to talk to people playing xbox and stay connected with them. Also, achievements? Awesome. The only thing that doesn't work is live parties... it's an "xbox only" feature at the moment. Though I'm sure it won't take them too long to fix. Let me know what you guys' thoughts are! I'm having a blast.
Re: Dawn of War 2 fuck, come on, use PMs or start a "lets trade cock pics on our blackberries" thread.
