Gears 2 Wow, I havent played te first multiplayer much... but I just got this, didnt start campaign... waiting to do that with jordan... but holy cow multiplayer is intense. It takes some getting used to and can be frustrating, but when you get it down it is so rewarding.
Re: Gears 2 Let the bitching commence ... Apparently multiplayer gears 2 fucking sucks... Why? It's not the gameplay because that's the same as it was before for the most part ... It's the fact of idiotic decision on the part of Epic... You can not CHOOSE what type of game mode you want to play out of the 5+ whatever there is, it's random and after 1 match it's over and it's onto another completely RANDOM match / type with NEW players - it's never the same team. Why would they do this? Everyone is crying about it all over the place. You can't choose how many rounds, you can't choose what you even want to play. So imagine having no freedom to play what you want to play with your own game ... Yeah, that's gears 2 apparently. Hopefully a patch fixes this because i have to admit that is retarded. I've never heard of multiplayer where you cant CHOOSE anything.
Re: Gears 2 Here's how one guy explained it. You can now no longer just host, select a game mode and select a map or series of maps to play and just get on with it. No. Now, you can only chose from a list of possible games types, then join a game, where you don't get to choose which side you play as, and then it goes to a vote on which game mode you play and then another vote from only two random maps to play on. And, to add to the appalling set up, you can only play one match at a time. Just like ranked matches from Gears1.
Re: Gears 2 I don't mind it and I'm not going to cry about it. They might fix it in a patch, but who knows. I like the game and I had fun when I played this morning.
Re: Gears 2 Wouldn't exactly call this a FPS... moving it to the Console forums. But yeah I got through act 1 on hardcore with my friend last night and it was pretty awesome. Not playing multiplayer til I beat the campaign.
Re: Gears 2 bah you guys are clueless host host ability to section off what type of games you queue up for. So you can basically narrow it down to 2-3 types of games you like. Whether they be cap the flag, cap n hold. Or execution / warzone death match styles. So selecting a game mode is not a problem as long as you have a brain and a host. If you have a group of players (5) you can pretty much insta queue for matches. The host has the ability to re-challenge the opposing group I believe. So re-matching is not that hard to do. The only problem I see is when you have 1-4 players, and you do a search for match, it will try and find a fifth for you and this can take time. I am sure this will be fixed as pop increases. Right now, queuing by yourself or in a group of 5 guarentees you the fastest match speed. I played multiplayer 7 hours last night, and got about 100-200 games under my belt. SO, play before you believe the crap on forums.
Re: Gears 2 my only complaint is that it is slower than cod4 setting up matches, and there is a little lag. other than that it rocks, the voting is a cool feature, which I dig. Same as cod4, all you can do is veto to change the map... here you just vote for the map instead of being suprised. Mode wise, it is cool to have a choice, if your team of 5 players agree you will 99% get the match you want so it is not a big deal.

Re: Gears 2 You only can't choose the exact game mode you want when its a ranked/public match. As far as I know public and ranked are the same thing. That said, I don't really feel the need to flex my e-peen and compete with anyone online. I already have 5 RL friends that got the game so we'll probably be playing together a lot. We got to level 24 playing Horde on Hardcore difficulty. It was pretty awesome (after that we call it quits because people were going to sleep). The map we were playing on was Pavilion (I think thats the name). Guess my point is that you just don't get a choice of exactly what mode you want to play in ranked matches... which are pointless for a lot of people anyway. You really don't get anything from ranked matches. Also, I thought about the gold weapon thing... and the gold weapons look kinda gay anyway (they're more of a dirty yellow... they aren't shiny)... So I'm not regretting that I have the standard version. I didn't get special for GoW1 either. For single player I'm on Act 3 about 1/3rd completed so far on Hardcore. It's pretty damn fun. They fixed a lot of the gay shit that happened in GoW1 (game mechanics wise).
Re: Gears 2 Coach, meenoi, the hawkers and I were playing hardcore horde Jacinto I think. We made it to level 19 and went to bed. Some of those levels were really rough until I figured out there was a hammer of dawn on the map. As far as gay game mechanics, your buddy could get downed and you could revive him, but you could get downed and it's game over? I thought that was a pretty gay game mechanic.
Re: Gears 2 i will be gone until sunday, but i hope we can game a little together. However, once all is said and done and i beat campaign, i see myself just going back and playing cod4 multiplayer. this doesnt have the last appeal and fast no nonsense action i like.
Re: Gears 2 I do like gears multiplayer A LOT actually, and really get into it... It's just the way that it's set up SUCKS so bad it's not even funny. It takes FOREVER to get into a game, sometimes up to a 5 minute wait. That's what I mean, before on Gears 1 you could join hosted servers and just have a set map rotation and shit... Now you are stuck playing 1 match with complete randoms every time and then it's back to the lobby to wait again. Seriously, I've waited more than I've played. Shit system ruins multiplayer.
Re: Gears 2 Multiplayer is awesome and intense. I wish the queue times were not as shitty. That's the only thing making me upset. I'd almost rather play against teams that completely rock mine five times than wait so long to get into one match with evenly skilled players. I guess we'll have to form CBH five mans.

Re: Gears 2 Yea i've been playing multiplayer all afternoon and had a blast definitely is fun with a coordinated team of 5... Really fun actually. It's all about teamwork. Me and mark played for a bit and it was a good time. Epic comeback from 4-0 deficit. Anyone who can get on for tonight (Sunday) I think we are going to play at least 3 of us. I'm actually NOT really excited for WoW for some reason... I'll probably play it casually probably not hardcore, I dunno. Not playing it the last month sort of made me not really care anymore.
Re: Gears 2 If we keep playing Gears 2 there's no way I'll pick up any MMO. If I were to fire up WoW again, I wouldn't know what to do with my toon. That was a good comeback. That girl on our team was pretty good, we were literally owning that mortar side. As soon as we started taking it away from them, that's when we started winning. That guy with the mortar was tearing us a new asshole when we let him have it. After I got it, I got a few kills with it -- enough to narrow the margin. Was a lot of fun and our team was pretty amicable.
Re: Gears 2 im looking forward to the new wow content should be beast, heard DK is really cool, and the zone is awesome. JORDAN You better at least pay for one more month so we get that free epic mount. Hopefully finding a match in gears becomes a smoother process.
