    Left 4 Dead = WINNNNNN

    HOLY F****** S***

    LEFT 4 DEAD IS AMAZING.

I played for an hour on xbox last night... let me tell you. That game. Is. PERFECT.

And it's not easy. Good teamwork makes it seem easy... but its hard as fuck. My group had to restart the level twice cause we got owned. And we were only playing on Advanced (Easy, Normal, Advanced, Expert).

I just... right now I can't even put into words how awesome that game is. The whole game is a synergy that works so well 100% of the time.

Anyway, I'll post a more in-depth review later.

You buy into every game lol.. Guaranteed this is like a 2 week play, will be fun during that time and then it starts to get repetitive and boring only to never be played again. GUARANTEED!

how can i get the xbox demo? I think the demo will confirm whether I but it or not.

it looks cool regardless, and valve is not a bad company they know their stuff.

i cant believe someone that wanted to play COD5 can pass such quick judgement on a very innovative game.

Haha. Anyone talking shit about this game is gonna be dead wrong just FYI.

Just because I like it doesn't automatically mean it sucks. You could say the same about Team Fortress 2... but look, a year later people are still playing it. What does that tell you?

Valve isn't stupid. They know what they're doing and this game is gonna be around for a long time.

A game can be good and not be a game to buy. Replay value is what it has to have to accomplish that. If the multiplayer is good, then I'll buy it but I can see myself renting it when it first comes out.

For replay I do not know how long it will last. Main thing it has going for it, is the AI director. If they have huge maps with multiple paths to choose and explore, well than that would be the ultimate zombie game.

Brendan can you just download the demo off of xbox live and play????? Or did you need some sort of code?

By all means rent it first. I can honestly see this having TONS of replay value due to the fact that every map plays differently every time. Nothing is in the same place every time. That and you don't just have to play against bots. There is a 4v4 Versus mode where each team takes turns playing as the survivors or boss infected. It's not in the demo but I'll explain more on that later.

For example, even in the short time that I played, my group died twice... so we got reset back to the safe room. Each time we walked out of that room we were greeted with a different situation. The first time we came out there were zombies pretty much clawing at the door waiting for us to come out. The second time.... not so many. And the third, there weren't any right outside the door. The theme didn't follow the whole way through the level though. We experienced hordes of zombies in different areas. It STILL wasn't easy, even though the game was obviously trying to cut us some slack.

Another thing was that since you're playing with 3 other teammates, voice comm is INCREDIBLY important.. and it makes the experience so much more fun. There were many times when you're blasting zombies in front of you and a teammate will shout for help behind you and that is really the best way to find out if someone is in trouble or not. There are visual cues in the interface (which is very well laid out and doesn't get in the way) but shouting "BEHIND YOU!" (or similar) is the best course of action. Sticking with your teammates is important as well. If you think you're about to go macho and go way ahead of the group because "you're better than them".... hahaha. Have fun dying. There really is no room in this game for being a prick-- it will just get you killed.

The hard part of this game though is not simply the combat. It is very straightforward actually. Kill zombies, get to the safe room. Sounds simple enough? The problem lies where you run into boss infected that take large chunks of your health... once you use your healthpack... it's gone. You have to find another one. Health packs can be used on yourself or a teammate, so if someone is at 90 hp with a health pack and you're at 11 hp without one... you can get them to heal you up. It takes about 5 seconds to heal, so you can't just do it willy nilly. The same goes for reviving... it takes about 5 seconds, so it is best to kill whatever is around you and then revive, you'll last much longer doing that. Trying to revive in the middle of a big fight is tantamount to suicide. You get interupted anyway (by being hit) and the bar resets... kind of like in an MMO.

There is usually plenty of ammo... and you shouldn't run out until you get to a weapon station. Pistols have unlimited ammo, but they reload slowly... however you can carry two. You start off with one but can pick up another along the way. The pistol is also what you use when you get knocked down... basically instead of dying outright, you go into a Call of Duty 4-esque Last Stand mode with your pistol out. You do this until a teammate helps you up (like I said takes about 5 seconds) but you can still do a lot of damage with just one pistol.

There are several primary weapons you can get. They are:

    • Uzi - Very fast automatic weapon with lots of ammo. Quick to reload.
    • Pump Shotgun - Slow but devastating weapon. Takes a few seconds to reload.
    • Auto Shotgun - Less powerful than the pump but just as devasating because of its speed. Reloading is the same.
    • Assault Rifle - Fast automatic weapon with higher damage than the Uzi. Also quick to reload.
    • Scoped rifle - This is essentially a high powered sniper rifle (think Enfield) and you can zoom in on enemies with this. Reloading is slow, but it does massive damage and typically severs limbs from zombies.
Obviously you also get pistols. They have 15 shots per clip (so 30 if dual wielding) and are pretty slow to reload (especially if you have two). Although it is somewhat realistic (but faster than I could reload) it is not so slow to the point of frustration. In this game both pistols (if you have two) are controlled by the one trigger unlike many other 360 games that have dual wielding. This lets you focus more on your surroundings than making sure you are firing both pistols :)

I won't even go into detail on the AI... it's too much to talk about. All you have to know is that the zombies are fast, smart, and everywhere. The boss infected are hard.

Just... check the game out. That's all I can say. The demo becomes available to non-preorders on the 11th.
