    Quake Wars server info

I talked with the folks at My Internet Services today and got somewhere with pricing and whatnot concerning a possible quake wars server.

Before talking with them, their prices were:
    • $120/mo for 24 slot (no discount)
    • $84/mo for 24 slot (30% coupon discount -- coupon costs $75)
After talking with them, their prices are:
    • $108/mo for 24 slot (no discount)
    • $75.60/mo for 24 slot (30% coupon discount -- coupon costs $75)
Personally I think that they might be worth trying (30% coupon is for the life of our server, and there is no need to purchase more than month-to-month.)

Anyhow, at $75 a month that would be really affordable even if only 5 or 6 of us pitched in (just over $10/mo per person).

I'm in the same boat. I'm not going to allocate extra funds just to keep the server going which is what karanji and i (mostly karanji) did for 2142. It hurts the wallet.

unless i see major improvement I am out of this one. I played BF2142 last night, and the game plays smooth as silk. The mechanics are genious, and all the machines actually make you feel like you are in that machine. Besides that, the gun affects are not all super pixelated, and all the good pinged servers are normally lag free...

So in closing im going to start playing BF2142 again. BF2 also. CS: Source looks and feels great, but to be honest the game is complete shit and I do not have the time to master Spray and Pray tactics again. BC that is what the game is. Either that or I need a new monitor with a lower resolution.

2142 was dope. It was so much fun and a good game. I don't know what you all think is wrong with it. I just don't have the hard drive space to keep something on my computer and not play it. I also won't have enough time come school for classes, homework, studying, and 3 games. I'll probably have to cut it to one and it probably shouldn't be an MMO.

get a new hard drive? Learn to manage your time.

    the end.

As for BF2142 ive been playign it the last few nights, and it is crazy fun. We would own with our Youngboyz squad again. Quake wars is a fukin joke though. Game looks like complete shit compared to 2142.

Same thing as VG. WoW looks ten times better because they went the simplistic route, and cut corners with design where they could. BF2142 does the same thing. Gun Affects look amazing, machines handle properly. Only real complaint is the clipping and view distance. But those are not computer driven, more game driven.

I would LOVE to see 2142 start up again. Loved the game and still do. Its boring to play alone tho :p.

Yeah... I'm not sure what you've (this is towards orion) got on your hard drive... but 2142 doesn't take more than 3GB at the most. I think it's actually 2.4GB. That said... I know you were recently talking about installing a bunch of old games... just find what you don't play and uninstall em'.

As far as I know you currently play:

    WoW
    Company of Heroes
Quake 3 (? or just that free version?)
    CS:Source
    Quake Wars beta 2

You can probably delete the game files for HL2 if you're really pressed for space unless you find yourself playing the single player campaign a lot :p I've only played through HL2 twice... it's an awesome game but I just don't play through single player games more than a couple times.

I dunno... just my 2 cents. I don't see how you could be running out of space, even on an 80GB hard drive (but I know yours is bigger).

I went through with WinDirStat and deleted shit I don't use. I have 25% free now instead of 3%
